This morning, I attended a very beautiful mass, a Catholic Eucharist, (note: I am not a Catholic, but then I do believe that Salvation does not depend on religion) and heard this very very simple question, that came to me nonetheless as a surprise, albeit a very good one.
I wasn’t able to get the name of the priest during that mass, but what he said in his homily that very moment, stuck to me like the smell of Downy would to freshly washed clothes.
Have you caused anyone to sin today?
It’s a different perspective, at least for me, on evaluating how the day went by. Usually, what people do is that we tend to as ourselves, “Am I happy with the course of events that happened today?” or anything of that sort. Better yet, it is almost always the case that we do not evaluate the day at all.
As Christians, or at least me being one, we are tasked that in everything we do, we do it for the Glory of God. And it is a very good measure of whether we failed or not, in that task, is to ask, if we have caused another person to sin. After all, we are held accountable for others. We are responsible for them. Beautiful, that question is. I asked the same thing to myself awhile ago and found out that I might have failed, though I hope not miserably. But tomorrow, with this in mind, I hope that at the very least, even if I could not glorify His name in a positive way, at least I would not do anything, or much, to make this world more hellish than it already is.
Can we hide from God, and actually fool Him into thinking that we have been good all day?
If I climb to the heavens, You are there
If I fly to the sunrise, or sail beyond the sea….
Still I find You there.
Walang takas. Si Lord, LAKAS talaga. ^___^
